Is Secretarial Studies for you?

Program Description

You have 25 competencies to complete with digital resources, textbooks, teacher support and peer assistance to increase engagement and understanding. This provides flexibility and extra time to work on more challenging areas of the curriculum when needed, as well as spend time enriching your learning through a variety of enrichment materials. You are given the resources to learn and develop the skills and competencies required by employers and supported as per your needs.

Time Commitment

This is a 55-week course with new intakes in September, November, January and April of every school year. The program consists of in-class learning from 8:30 until 3:20 Monday through Friday each week. Most students can expect to complete the program within 16 months, although it is possible to complete in 1 school year.

Delivery Method

The program is completed through individualized learning. You will always have a teacher in your classroom, but content is not delivered through the traditional structure of a lecture. Rather, you work at your own pace through the content, assignments and projects with the support and guidance of your teacher. For additional guidance, our competencies have checklists and other resources that aid in the growth of your learning. While you’re completing your courses and diploma individually, you are in constant contact with your teacher and learn in one-on-one and group sessions alike.

Functional prerequisites

  • This section identifies the modules or course codes for the actual programs of study in adult general education that are specific prerequisites in language of instruction and mathematics. Functional prerequisites includes the successful completion of specific prerequisites as well as the general development test (TDG). When a DVS doesn't require specific prerequisites in language of instruction or in mathematics, a dash ( - ) is displayed in the appropriate cell. For programs that lead to an AVS, specific prerequisites and the TDG do not apply (N/A).

Maya - Secreterial Student

Maya

I was very happy to be hired at the workplace I have always dreamt about working in - the federal Government of Canada. Being a public servant has been my goal since the day I arrived in Canada, and thanks to WQCC, my dream came true. I would like to encourage everyone who wants to change their future to join WQCC and make their dreams come true
